Marcia Gongora was born in the beautiful Port of Puerto Montt in the south of Chile.

The majestic beauty of the lakes and volcanoes served as inspiration for her life.  She immigrated to this

great country many years ago and soon, found herself immersed in learning a new language, custom and

environment.

In college, she studied to become a social worker and obtained a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Chile in Santiago.

She credits her parents (both school teachers), especially her mother, who always guided her to be kind and caring to other people.

During a time of great strife and suffering in Chile, she miraculously landed her first job as a Social Worker.

After a year of being in this country, she was hired as a social worker by the State of New Jersey in the child

protective services field where she retired after 27 years of service.

Today, she is the Director of the Family Success Center, a community center under Bergen Family Center, an

agency that has served the community for over 100 years. As a Director of FSC, she earnestly enjoys the work

she does - helping parents, grandparents and seniors in the community with life’s daily challenges.

For the past two years, she has personally dedicated her time to create, develop and implement a mentoring program.

Her book is so titled, ‘Mentoring Anyone?’

Marcia says, “I feel blessed for the many opportunities I have had in my life to work and do what I love”.
